Cask Strength Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky

This quadruple-gold (World Spirits Awards gold medal 2015, 2017, 2020, 2025) winning whisky is presented in our 2026 Heritage Edition bottles. Meticulously reworked to commemorate 100+ years of fine whisky in the Okanagan, every detail of the bottle is fashioned after an extremely rare unopened 1924 Laird of Fintry.

IS IT SCOTCH?

If the Laird of Fintry was made in Scotland it would be, but as only Single Malt Whiskies made in Scotland can call themselves “Scotch”, we celebrate ours as BC’S Original Single Malt Whisky! The Laird is homegrown Okanagan to its core and fiercely proud of it.

FLAVOUR PROFILE

After 5 or more years in our custom virgin white oak casks, our whisky is then finished for additional 12 months in elegant Quails’ Gate fortified Foch barrels, giving it a silky-smooth mouth feel, complemented with the decadence of toasted oak, saddle leather, and rich tones of vanilla, plum, raisins, caramel and spice.

CASK STRENGTH

Known as ‘barrel-proof’ or ‘straight outta the barrel’, Cask Strength means you get a chance to taste our Laird of Fintry at full strength, in this case 56%, and only lightly filtered.

WHY ‘THE LAIRD OF FINTRY’?

The Laird of Fintry whisky holds a special place in history, tracing its roots back to the early 1900s when Captain Dun-Waters, the Laird (Lord) of the Fintry Delta, imported his private label whisky from Scotland. Okanagan Spirits proudly safeguards one of the remaining unopened bottles from the Laird’s 1924 collection, symbolizing a priceless artifact from the past.

To commemorate this legacy, our heritage edition bottle, first introduced in 2024, meticulously recreates the essence of the original Laird’s bottle, with details including the namesake, bottle shape, neck band, and label mirroring the historic design. While the original bottle remains on display at the Vernon distillery, Okanagan Spirits invites you to participate in the Laird Lottery for a chance to own a contemporary piece of Okanagan history.

As part of Okanagan Spirits commitment to conservation, a portion of the proceeds from Laird bottle sales will support the Friends of Fintry society in preserving the Laird’s former estate, now a cherished site within Fintry Provincial Park. I had the chance to try this delicious spirit recently and was very amazed at the smoothness I haven't experienced with other cask strength whiskeys. Highly recommend and goes great with your favorite darker full bodied cigar. The flavor notes are pretty evident especially the vanilla and caramel but the lighter then expected whiskey burn doesn't chase them from your palette. Very enjoyable.

I didn't consider myself a drinker at all, I don't drink Beer or Wine or most spirits BUT I entered and won a spot in the Laird of Fintry draw a few years ago when shopping for family at Christmas time. I had intended to gift all 3 bottles but decided to keep one to have around in case.
I decided to pop it open and have a sip or two and that's when I realized I am a Whiskey Drinker afterall.
I Love the regular a lot but the Cask Strength has to be my Favorite.
I now look forward to an email from OSCD hoping to win again and I have but now I keep them to myself!
I encourage everyone to try these Spirits out, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Oh Yeah the Absinthe is wonderful as well.

A uniquely flavoured whisky which to my own palate is found to be most delicious. Apple and pear with a very lovely finish. In my youth I worked in Okanagan orchards and fruit canneries. This dram stimulated memories of those wonderful scents.

From the presentation in the bottle, to the anticipation of opening the dark golden spirit, oh my….the aroma upon pouring my first serving, such nectar.

I could not bring myself to tasting s quickly, the want for inhaling the aromas….the caramels, the smooth “cooked” flavours. Never before had I experienced such layers of perfection.

To taste is not to disappoint, perfection. Top of me want list for such. You will not need search again for better.

Ripe Okanagan cherries, vanilla, toffee, and warming spice. Nice lasting warmth with hints of the malt showing up late. A perfect Christmas dram.

A very youthful whisky that may very well improve with increase barrel aging.
My first impression with nosing is that it was quite woody in the nose with undertones of red wine. It’s Colour was heavy on the red side as compared with other single malts even those finished in a port or claret barrel.
On the pallet initial notes of honey and fruit gave way to a spicy finish that lingered for a respectable time.
Pleasant enough but on the tough side of the spectrum.

I am by no means a whiskey connoisseur but I do like a good cask strength whiskey and this one is at the top of my favorites. I love the original Laird of Fintry but I find the cask strength just adds so much more to an already great whiskey. No tasting notes from me because everyone’s palate is different but this doesn’t disappoint in any range.
